Colm is the Managing Director of Ottobock.care Ireland and has worked in the prosthetic and orthotic profession for over 21 years. During this time, he has worked across clinical, leadership and service development roles, with a focus on improving outcomes and experiences for patients.
Clinically, Colm particularly enjoys the high-activity and sporting side of prosthetic rehabilitation, helping people work towards ambitious mobility and performance goals. He also enjoys the problem-solving involved in orthotics, particularly biomechanics and intricacies of the foot and ankle. For him, every patient presents a unique challenge, and finding a practical solution that helps someone move more comfortably and confidently is one of the most rewarding parts of the profession.
Colm believes that there is rarely a one-size-fits-all solution in prosthetics and orthotics. Every individual is different, and he values working closely with patients to understand their goals and develop a personalised combination of devices, treatment, and support.
Outside of work, Colm is very family-oriented and enjoys spending time with his family. He has a strong interest in sport and physical activity, particularly hurling and Gaelic football, as well as running, strength training, gymnastics, and endurance events. He also has a lifelong appreciation for traditional Irish music and dancing.
